My Story could be a movie!!!
Really….. I’m Denise
Yes, I’ve heard all the jokes..
De niece… De nephew
De knees..De Elbows
As a kid, I was fondly known as
Dennis the Menace!!
So I came up with an idea I was gonna call my business
“Denise’s Pieces”
After all, who doesn’t like that orange-wrapped chocolate Reese’s pieces? It’s catchy and easy to remember, Just like me.
I’m one of a kind.
My energy is unique.
I love colour, color.. however, you decide to spell it..and having lived both in the UK and the USA, my spelling is royally messed up!!
It all begins with a trip to Cannes, the South of France, several years ago…
After struggling to raise four beautiful daughters as a single mom for 20 years in Long Island, New York…it was Passover time, and they were all in college and busy, so I took myself on holiday (as you Brits like to say).
There, I met a dashing young man (eleven years my junior) . We hopped on a train to explore the sights of Italy and were married six weeks later!
Life in New York didn’t turn out to be an option, so after nine months, we relocated to Gateshead in the North East of England. There, I eventually became a British Citizen, and the rest is history, as they say!!
I fell in love with the expansiveness of the British countryside and its closeness to the beaches and Lake District and began to reinvent myself at the age of 50!!
One Sunday, I attended a furniture painting workshop in Sedgefield and was hooked!! After being a mandala artist for several years, I just loved the feel of using a great big paint brush over a solid wood surface. The freedom of expression and expansiveness were liberating!! I adored creating and found that furniture painting and restoration were the perfect mix of my creative and life skills.
My joy is to now
Be BOLD. Be BRIGHT. Be BEAUTIFUL.
MAKE A STATEMENT!!
After years of having no voice, I find this very liberating, and I see each furniture surface as its very own canvas waiting to be explored and expressed, each in its own unique way. I take pre-loved quality pieces of furniture and give them a new lease of life, turning them into unique, bespoke, one-of-a-kind conversation items!! No detail is spared, and your new piece of furniture will become a new “antique of the future” full of character, style and character.
